Kate Moss for Longchamp

Kate Moss is no stranger to the designer world, not only is she famous for wearing some of the most coveted pieces of designer fashion available but in recent times she has also turned her hand to designing clothes herself.  So it should come as no surprise that the model turned designer has now designed a range of bags for the illustrious and luxurious French label Longchamp.

Despite Ms Moss’ design experience this is the first time that the model has ever designed a range of bags.  The collection which consists of 12 different bag designs can be categorised into three distinctive themes, those being “Rock ‘n’ Casual”, “Rock ‘n’ Travel” and “Rock ‘n’ Glam”.  Her collaboration with Longchamp entitled “Kate Moss for Longchamp” was launched on Wednesday in Paris, at the Ritz no less.  What’s more as you would expect the fashion elite was out in force to help the model celebrate the launch of her collection.  The guest list extended to some 700 guests which included the designer Giamattista Valli, the Editor in Chief of French Vogue Carnie Roitfeld and the former muse of Yves Saint, Laurent Loulou de la Falaise.

Kate Moss is famed for her incredible style and impeccable taste when it comes to fashion and true to form the trend setter was beautifully turned out when she arrived at the launch event on Wednesday.  The model opted for a black lace Valentino dress which she combined with a white Valentino jacket and of she course compeleted her look with a clutch bag from her new collection.

Although this is the first time she has designed anything for the brand it is not the first time that she has worked with Longchamp.  Rather she has been the face of the brand for several seasons now and clearly the pairing works as Ms Moss says “I’ve been working with Longchamp for a while, it just works.”   It is expected that the range of bags will be as well received as the collections of clothes which has designed for Topshop.  Kate was signed up by Topshop boss Sir Philip Green to design a range for the high street store in spring, 2007 and since then her collections have gone from strength to strength.

Judgement of the style icon’s bag collection for Longchamp will have to be reserved until 11th February, when the range is launched in Britain.  The collection will be launched in the Longchamp boutique on Bond Street, London and exclusively at “the Wonder Room” in Selfridges, London.  However, it seems when it comes to designing and anything fashion related Kate has the Midas touch so it is probable that this collection will be a huge hit that she can add to her already long string of successes.
